Summit Design Integrates Visual Elite With Synchronicity Developer Suite
Integrated Solution Proven by MBDA France and Now Widely Available
MARLBORO, Mass. - October 7, 2002 - Synchronicity, Inc. and Summit Design today announced the integration of the Synchronicity® Developer Suite design collaboration and management solution with Summit's Visual Elite. Together, the tools allow ASIC and FPGA developers to collaborate on design definition and verification, even across multiple sites, while supplying the information project managers need to ensure project success.
The integrated tools are currently in use at MBDA France to develop system-chips combining unique and high-value functional blocks. MBDA's design teams use Visual Elite to specify, simulate and debug complex designs, while making best use of their geographically dispersed design centers by using DesignSync to manage design data from the beginning of the design process through to physical implementation. Consistent data views are available to all designers, regardless of their location.
"MBDA France is a leader in the development of smart air-to-ground weapons and of a wide range of missiles," said Philippe Butel director of ASIC design at MBDA France. "To maintain that leadership, MDBA France has developed key skills in complex embedded systems design for highly integrated electronics, for real-time image processing, auto-pilot and missile guidance applications. To support this complex, geographically dispersed development environment, we need well-adapted tools and methodologies such as the Summit/Synchronicity integration."
Summit and Synchronicity have integrated the design management tools found in the Developer Suite, DesignSync, into the Visual Elite user interface. Visual Elite provides IC and system designers with a comprehensive environment to capture design concepts graphically and textually to verify design behavior. DesignSync makes design data available to the entire project team, no matter where they are located, in a safe and managed manner. The other component of the Developer Suite, ProjectSync, enables multisite project tracking, communications and collaboration.
"Summit's Visual Elite provides a comprehensive view of a design from high-level specifications, through to verification and partitioning," said Paul Gibson, vice president of European operations at Synchronicity. "This integration is a great example of how leading edge design tools can tap the potential of Synchronicity's collaborative design management platform. "Summit has done a great job of working with us and our mutual customers to make sure that we have a high quality interface that satisfies customer requirements."
"Synchronicity's design management platform is an effective tool to maximize Visual Elite's benefits in the design of complex ICs across a distributed design flow," said Rami Rachamim, director of marketing at Summit. "Synchronicity's Network Effect Partner Program has been a great help and assured interoperability between our products leading to the implementation of Summit's methodology at MBDA."
